SCOA Children's Center

"A Special Place to Learn and Grow"

One of the most challenging missions SCOA has ever undertaken is the founding of SCOA Children's Center. That mission is being realized everyday when you walk across our campus and hear the laughter of children on the playground. As we enter the fourth year of operations, the preschool has become a solid part of the community.

SCOA Children's Center was built with a donation from Ronald and Linda Greenberg. Greenberg, who owns the property and leases over 15,000 square feet of space to SCOA, saw the potential in Keith Davis' vision of a preschool. By providing architecture and structural changes to two buildings, Greenberg has helped to pour the foundation on what may grow to be an entire chain of preschools throughout Southern California. Donations made in the memory of longtime SCOA benefactor, Robert Black, who passed away in 1997, and the San Diego Gas & Electric Contrib Club, helped to fund playground equipment for the Center. In addition, grants from Las Patronas and the Parker Foundation in 1998 helped to fund furnishings and supplies.

A full-service preschool facility founded on the educational principles of SCOA, the Children's Center offers a unique program of learning and creative play for children ages two through Kindergarten. Our preschool program centers on a full educational curriculum, extremely talented and creative teachers and staff who love what they do and are committed to their work, a well-balanced nutritional program, and reasonable tuition designed especially for working parents, single parents, and those who are economically disadvantaged. SCOA Children's Centers gives parents peace of mind knowing that their child is being well-cared for in an atmosphere of love and nurturing.

If you talk with some of the parents, there is a consensus among them that the center has one underlying quality that makes them feel good about bringing their children here everyday. That quality is "love" and "caring." That quality comes from the nature of our teachers and staff.

Thanks to the support of the community, SCOA Children's Center will continue to grow and be a "special place for children to learn." We thank you all for your support.

Community Outreach

Part of the mission of Skill Centers of America is to reach out to the San Diego community-at-large, to help people in many different ways. As a nonprofit organization, SCOA is committed to providing services to the community through our company, as well as through partnerships with local businesses who have a similar commitment to the people of San Diego.

Here are some of the Community Outreach Projects we are developing.

Budweiser 'Jammin for Education with The San Diego Urban League

Skill Centers of America and the San Diego Urban League have joined forces with Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc., to provide college and vocational scholarships for San Diego's urban youth. Through fundraising efforts by both organizations, and matching funds from Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc., scholarships will be given out annually to eligible students.
