Commercial printing is a growing industry, and skilled workers will always be in demand. SCOA's hands-on training in our own commercial print shop is for those who like to work with their hands, and like to produce a completed project from an idea. SCOA's printing program provides training in all areas of the printing process, including paste up and layout, camera operations such as shooting pictures, making veloxes and negatives, maintaining and operating the offset printing press, and bindery operations such as cutting, folding, drilling, and packaging the finished product.

     The print shop is not only their classroom, but also a first-rate commercial printing operation, managed and instructed by Arthur James, who brings 20-plus years of printing experience to the class. He teaches by example as he incorporates customer print jobs into classroom exercises. At the completion of the course, the printing Lab gives students the opportunity to complete an entire project on their own.The students receive the experience first hand, and the public receives first-rate products and service.
