     SCOA College students gain the skills and the knowledge necessary to obtain entry level jobs in the expanding fields of Computer Operations, General Office Assistant, Medical Office Specialist, Printing, Multimedia Design & Desktop Publishing, Retail Sales, Customer Service, Computerized Accounting, Collections and Hospitality.

     While providing this career training to the general public, SCOA College remains true to the SCOA principle of "helping people help themselves" by offering scholarships in most programs for people who are physically challenged and economically disadvantaged.

     SCOA College certificate and diploma programs are designed to help anyone who is ready to train for a new career, or improve their skills in their current occupation. In addition, SCOA College offers Job Placement Assistance to all students who successfully graduate from the program. SCOA College takes pride in supporting graduates during and after their placement period. The job placement philosophy is, PERSEVERANCE + CONSISTENCY = SUCCESS.

Take a look at some of the Career Programs available:

Hands-On Retailing                                  8 Weeks
     This program is designed to give immediate results, and is a hands-on working class in SCOA's very own Thrift Store. Students get first-hand knowledge of cashier sales, customer service, cash handling, and other skills needed in the retail industry.

Computer Operations                               8 Weeks
     This program will get you started in the basics of computer operations, starting with and Introduction to Windows 98, and guiding you through hands-on instruction in the Office 97 courses that are in demand today: Word, Excel and Access.

Customer Service & Collections               12 Weeks
     Graduates from this program will know the basics of good customer relations and Collections. Students become familiar with bankruptcy laws, skip tracing and interpretation of credit reports. Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions with insurance companies, departments stores, banks, and other organizations where these skills are needed.

Hospitality                                                12 Weeks
     In a city like San Diego, where tourism is one of the largest industries, a career in Hospitality can put you on the road to success. This program provides a great start and gives students the skills they need work in hotels, resorts, travel agencies, and convention bureaus.

Computerized Accounting                       18 Weeks
     A growing economy results in more financial transactions and other activities, driving up the demand for accounting services. This programs provides the basics in the accounting field, and includes general offices practices that will result in an office professional that can handle a multitude of job duties.

Medical Office Specialist                         20 Weeks
     One of our most popular programs, this course is designed to prepare students for the challenging field of medical office administration. Students will gain a broad base of computer skills, medical terminology and medical billing. And a special added feature includes skill training in medical basics such as temperature, blood pressure, respiration, height and weight. Graduates will be able to perform many functions in the medical office.
