customers, clients and sponsors, SCOA is on the move again, this time heading for the 21st Century!
Take a look at how far we have come since 1986!
- 1986 Opening of SCOA's first Thrift Store on University Avenue, and the On-The-Job Retail Training Programs. Incorporation of SCOA as a charitable organization.
- 1986 Opening of SCOA Commercial Printing and Apprentice Training Programs.
- 1988 SCOA moves corporate offices from back of thrift store to warehouse building located behind thrift store.
- 1990 Replaces temporary dividers with real walls in corporate offices, but still no ceilings or doors.
- 1990 First Annual Charlie Joiner Celebrity Golf Tournament.
- 1990 Opening of SCOA's second Thrift Store on El Cajon Blvd.
- 1991 License and Approval of SCOA College. First classes began in May with six students in the back of the old SCOA Corporate Office warehouse. (Still no ceilings or doors)
- 1992 SCOA College moves to larger space with three separate classrooms and gains six new computers.
- 1992 Corporate offices move to new modern office space.
- 1993 SCOA College signs contract with State to train 180 employees of minority and women-owned businesses over next 24 months.
- 1995 SCOA College opens sattelite campus in San Marcos.
- 1996 SCOA College reaches new heights in the vocational rehabilitation market, and becomes leader in San Diego County.
- 1996 7th Annual Charlie Joiner Celebrity Golf Tournament celebrates Charlie's induction into Pro Football Hall of Fame and SCOA's Ten-Year Anniversary.
- 1997 Ribbon cutting and Grand Opening of SCOA Children's Center in March.
- 1997 First SCOA Community & Family Fair held on August 24th.
- 1998 SCOA Children's Center celebrates 1st Anniversary.
- 1998 9th Annual Charlie Joiner Celebrity Golf Tournament held at Torrey Pines Golf Course, featuring Our First Live Webcast
on the Internet and Two Days of Golf.
- 1999 Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Charlie Joiner Celebrity Golf Tournament.
